Lincoln Refines Innovative Approach Detection Technology in Brand-New Lincoln

Imagine your vehicle welcoming you with open arms every time you approached, like the feeling you get seeing the open arms of an old friend. This is exactly what Lincoln is going for with its innovative Approach Detection technology. We first saw glimpses of this tech on the 2015 Lincoln MKC, but the American automaker has perfected the features with the incoming 2017 Lincoln Continental. It works by sensing when your key fob is near. At that point, the Continental initiates its welcoming process by illuminating the ground beneath both front doors, effectively creating virtual “welcome mats.” The door handles are also softly illuminated, in a color that complements the…

Lincoln Tests New Way to Help Drivers Manage Lease Mileage

While leasing a vehicle can have plenty of benefits, one of the most difficult parts is keeping track of the mileage for your lease. Fortunately, Lincoln has helped develop a system to help assist drivers with that issue. The American carmaker is testing a new way to help drivers manage lease mileage. “Clients will be able to see at any time where they stand compared with the mileage chosen on their lease agreement – along with a regularly updated projection of their lease-end mileage,” said Lee Jelenic, director of Future Digital and Product Development. “This can help clients manage their miles and earn credits for unused miles.” The system allows…

Lincoln 360-degree Camera Technology Inspires Artwork

Lincoln vehicles are pieces of art themselves, so it comes as no surprise that they are inspiring artists. According to a Lincoln press release, the Lincoln 360-degree camera technology has inspired unique artwork. The 360-degree camera technology on the 2016 Lincoln MKX allows for drivers to experience whole new ways to view the world in their Lincoln. The Lincoln technology keeps passengers safer by letting them see what they usually wouldn’t be able to. That same technology inspired a team of artists to develop their own pieces of art with unseen perspectives. “I believe that some of the best work comes from allowing things to just happen, from taking risks…

As the amount of technology increases, so do the amount of ways hackers can infiltrate systems. Cars and their ever increasing amounts of technology are no exception. As the technology expands, hackers can do just about anything to your car. The scariest part? Hackers can do just about anything to your car remotely. Connections through wireless networks and electronic systems are perfect pathways for car hackers to interfere with car operations. The worries come after “60 Minutes” aired a demonstration of how vehicles are hacked. More surprising, luxury car maker BMW recently announced it fixed a flaw in the system that effected 2.2 million vehicles. The flaw allowed hackers to…
