Lincoln showed up to the 2016 New York International Auto Show with a special surprise that few had seen before. The Lincoln Navigator is a full-size SUV and a redesign seems to be a part of the brand’s comeback since the 2008 market crash. As Lincoln’s most well-known nameplate, revamping the SUV is a good jumpstart.
The new Lincoln Navigator concept boasts two gull wing doors and rides on turbine-themed 24-inch wheels. The exterior also boasts a new signature front grille.
As for the interior, there’s only one word to describe it: glorious. Horizontally ribbed seats, a piano-key shifter, and a retro center console are just a few of the eye catching features. The redesign comes after a 7.1% increase in sales in 2015, the first year Lincoln sold over 100,000 vehicles in seven years.
“With the all-new Navigator concept, we are going to once again help people reimagine a luxury SUV,” said Kumar Galhotra, president of the Lincoln brand. “It has the performance to go anywhere, more room than ever before, and the technology and the luxury to enjoy the ride and comfort.”
While it’s just a concept at this point, the production version is slated to hit markets in 2017, 20 years after its introduction to the large SUV segment. That means much of what we see on the SUV isn’t likely to go anywhere.
We here at Lincoln of Troy can’t wait to see the Lincoln Navigator up close and in person!
