The Lincoln Motor Company has unveiled a new MKX Concept at the 2014 Beijing International Motor Show, hinting at a new global SUV that should make waves in both the Chinese and American markets.
This is the first time Lincoln goes beyond U.S. borders to reveal a concept vehicle and we think the MKX was the perfect choice to mark the occasion. With its sloping teardrop roofline, wide shoulders, and dynamic side undercuts, the MKX Concept looks stunning as well as refreshing.
“Concept vehicles are defined by every design detail,” said David Woodhouse, Lincoln design director, “and this MKX Concept shows how Lincoln’s thoughtful design philosophy continues to evolve. The Lincoln brand was built on vehicles with stunning design, and the MKX Concept is the latest example.”
Lincoln held research in both China and the United States to determine how best to execute production of the MKX to satisfy luxury customers around the world. In China, they found that customers desire medium premium utility vehicles that express off-road capability and sportiness, which is reflected in the concept.
The revelation of the MKX Concept accompanied the news that Lincoln will bring its vehicles to China for the first time in its near-100-year history.
The production SUV that will be derived from the MKX Concept will become the third of four all-new Lincoln vehicles due by 2016. Keep an eye out for them at Lincoln of Troy!
