Lincoln Continental Debut Set for 2016 Detroit Auto Show

It’s no secret Lincoln is in giving its entire lineup a complete overhaul and it’s likely the unpopular MKS flagship sedan will get the axe. Taking its place is the legendary Lincoln Continental, previously shown as a concept earlier this year. Now, Lincoln marketing manager Imran Jalal has confirmed the Lincoln Continental debut will happen at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. Lincoln hasn’t been generous with details about the car of movie stars and presidents but Jalal did reveal that the new grille may spread throughout the lineup. The MK nameplates aren’t likely to go anywhere and the Continental and Navigator will be the only exceptions to the rule. Jalal…

Lincoln Continental Revival to Bring Lincoln Back

Ford took to the stage at the New York Auto Show and blew everyone away with a surprise guest: the Lincoln Continental. The concept of the legendary name, once the vehicle of presidents, movie stars, and the average citizen alike, brought whispers with it. With the MKS sedan leaving the Lincoln lineup, there’s a spot to fill. The Lincoln Continental revival is more than just the revival of a legendary nameplate. It’s the revival of the premium brand itself. Ford CEO Mark Fields has confirmed that the nameplate of the next Lincoln sedan will be the Continental but will it be what many Americans remember in the olden days? We…

First Lincoln Continental Was an Aesthetic Masterpiece

In a feature on the Lincoln Continental, the automaker claims that it was “possibly” its “most iconic design and division.” But it’s hard to imagine any other model that could fulfill that description. The Continental was intended to be something special, and to stand out as something beautiful.  The aesthetics of an automobile was extremely important to Edsel Ford, son of Henry Ford and first president of Lincoln. According to a historical essay by the automaker, Edsel “created the first ‘styling department’ for Ford Motor Company.” The Lincoln Continental was his dream car. The first Lincoln Continental arrived on March 31st, 1939, looking vastly more like a work of art…

Neil Young Mentions Potential 2016 Lincoln Continental

What do rock stars know about cars? Sometimes, quite a lot. Neil Young, the Canadian singer-songwriter and rock ‘n roll icon, is well known for his passion for cars and music, which has apparently garnered him some unofficial insight into the automotive industry. Speaking to Matt Cramer on CNBC’s Mad Money, Neil Young brought up Pono—a portable music player and service he developed—and revealed his company was working on new in-car audio integration with Revel by Harman. He then said the new system would be introduced in the 2016 Lincoln Continental, which—if true—would be great, but there hasn’t been a Continental since 2002. Did Young misspeak or did he truly,…

2002 Lincoln Continental Concept to Go on Auction

How would you like to have a 2002 Lincoln Continental Concept in your garage? Well, of course you’d like it! Would you be willing to pay for it at an auction? If so, be sure to attend RM Auctions on November 14 and 15 in Dallas, Texas. It’ll be selling 130+ cars, including the lovely Lincoln Continental concept that was originally unveiled at the 2002 Los Angeles Auto Show. Though the car was originally considered for production, it unfortunately never happened. To call it a one-of-a-kind vehicle would be an understatement. The point of the 2002 Continental was to give the 1960s retro look a modern touchup—and it nailed it….
